Alocasia Mix

This light and airy mix, designed specifically for Alocasias, allows for maximum oxygen exchange whilst retaining a lot of moisture, ensuring a healthy root system whilst avoiding rot. Worm castings in the mix add all the essential nutrients and trace minerals that your plants require and so this is a sure-fire way to start your plants off in the right way.

Anthurium Mix

Grow Tropicals Anthurium potting mix is a peat-free potting mix designed for epiphytic anthurium or in situations when you need an even chunkier mix than Jungle Mix. The specially created substrate is composed of bark, charcoal, coco husk, lava rock and pumice giving it a long-lasting structure and excellent drainage to prevent overwatering. We also included worm castings for natural fertilisation and healthy growth.

Desert Mix

Grow Tropicals Desert Mix is a peat free potting mix designed for all round use with cacti and succulents. The light and airy substrate allow for maximum drainage with some water retention to ensure good root growth without root rot. It's composed primarily of calcined molar clay, fine bark, sand and pumice.

Fern Mix

Grow Tropicals Fern Mix has been designed to be the perfect medium for helping your ferns thrive. Often tricky to cultivate in the home, ferns require a fine balance of moisture retention and drainage to help their fragile root systems establish. This mix has been carefully created to help them thrive.

Hoya Mix

Designed to be the perfect substrate mix for repotting your Hoyas. The coco base helps to retain moisture, tree fern fibre gives long lasting structure and a mix of bark, perlite and pumice helps to keep the mix fast draining and and airy to reduce the risk of overwatering.

Jungle Mix

Jungle Mix is a peat free potting mix designed for all round use with tropical houseplants, especially Aroids like Philodendron and Anthuriums. The light and airy mix allows for maximum oxygen exchange whilst retaining a lot of moisture, ensuring a healthy root system whilst avoiding rot. Worm castings in the mix add all the essential nutrients and trace minerals that your plants require and so this is a sure-fire way to start your plants off in the right way.

Jungle Mix is ideal for Anthuriums, Monstera, Philodendrons, Syngoniums and more.

Philodendron Mix

Grow Tropicals Philodendron Mix is a peat free potting mix designed specifically for Philodendrons. It's a tweaked version of Jungle Mix intended to complement the finer roots of Philodendrons.

Terrarium Mix

Originally designed and developed for the Atlanta Botanical Gardens (hence ABG), this has been the go-to mix for vivarium and terrarium enthusiasts for years.

Our ABG mix is based on the original Atlanta Botanical Gardens substrate recipe. It is fern fibre based and designed for long life span. ABG is designed for long term use in humid vivarium because of the following qualities:

Fast draining – it's a porous airy mix that doesn't get bogged down.

Moist but not boggy – the components, whilst fast-draining, do retain moisture well to prevent root dry out.

Nutrient retention – whilst the mix itself isn't nutrient heavy, the components hold onto nutrients well, ensuring a good growing cycle.

Minimal compaction – due to fibrous components, it's very resistant to compaction over time.

Long lasting – ABG can be used for a number of years before needing to be replaced.
