“Having grown-up in the Scottish countryside the majority of my work is inspired by the landscapes that surround me and that of my childhood home. That could be the lighthouses that we used to visit on family day trips, the dandelions I used to play “tell the time” with, or the coastal shores that I have spent many a long Summer day and night swimming at and eating sand filled sandwiches - it is not a picnic at the beach unless the sand gets everywhere.
I am currently based in Midlothian, Scotland working predominantly in ink and in a fine line illustrative style capturing the delicate and calming elements of my studies and translating into digital prints and homeware items.
During the Summer of 2020 my plans of finding Summer internships etc. was put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic and to keep my mind on textiles I started my own wee business, Jane Gray Textiles, which along with doing some volunteering work kept me busy.
Taking us to May 2021 where having been working away on various products and projects I felt a slight name change was required to Jane Gray Design, as like most throughout this pandemic I have adapted and I now offer a wider range of services.
I have recently graduated with a First Class Hons BA in Design for Textile from at Heriot-Watt University in Galashiels, specialising in printed textiles and I am very excited about what my next adventure will be.”
